ROGER COTTON HISTOPATHOLOGY PRIZE 2008

The panel of judges for the 2008 Roger Cotton Histopathology prize met in London on 11th February 2009, under the chairmanship of Professor Sir James Underwood. Unlike in previous years, it was not possible to reach a consensus on the best paper and the prize was awarded jointly to Dr Jeremy Parfitt of the Department of Pathology, London Health Sciences, Ontario, Canada, for his paper "Gastrointestinal Kaposi's Sarcoma: CD117 expression and the potential for misdiagnosis as gastrointestinal stromal tumours" which appeared in Histopathology 2008; 52; 816-823, and to Dr Oskar Koperek of the Department of Clinical Pathology, Medical University of Vienna, Austria, for his paper "Desomplasia in medullary thyroid carcinoma: a reliable indicator of metastatic potential" which appeared in Histopathology 2008; 52; 623-630.

After the Dinner on the 27th November 2009, during the BDIAP Scientific meeting on The Autopsy, the President, Professor Geraint Williams, presented the Division's Cunningham Medal for service to the British Division to the BDIAP Administrator, Mrs Carol Harris

At the same event, Professor Williams also presented the President's Medal for service to education in pathology to Professor Kristin Henry
