ROGER COTTON HISTOPATHOLOGY PRIZE 2010
The panel of judges for the 2010 Roger Cotton Histopathology prize met in London on 23rd May 2011, under the chairmanship of Professor Claude Cuvelier. The prize was awarded to Professor Marco Novelli of the Department of Pathology, University College London NHS Trust, London, UK for his paper "DOG1 and CD117 are the antibodies of choice in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumours" which appeared in Histopathology 2010; 57; 259-270. His co-authors were Sabrina Rossi, Manuel Rodriguez-Justo, Philippe Taniere, Beatrice Seddon, Luisa Toffolatti, Chiara Sartor, Pancras CW Hogendoorn, Raf Sciot, Martine Van Glabbeke, Jaap Verweij, Jean Yves Blay, Peter Hohenberger, Adrienne Flanagan and Angelo P Dei Tos. The value of the prize is 10.000 Euros. Many congratulations to Professor Novelli.
After the Dinner on the 25th November 2011, during the BDIAP Scientific meeting on Infectious Diseases Pathology, the President, Professor Neil Shepherd, presented the Division's Cunningham Medal for service to the British Division to Ms Elizabeth Whelan, Associate Editorial Director of Histopathology, the journal of the BDIAP, in recognition of her many years of support for the journal.
At the same event, Professor Shepherd also presented the President's Medal for service to education in pathology to Professor Sebastian Lucas.
