ROGER COTTON HISTOPATHOLOGY PRIZE 2011
The panel of judges for the 2011 Roger Cotton Histopathology prize met in London on 23rd July 2012, under the chairmanship of Professor Michael Wells. The prize was awarded to Caroline Verbeke of the Department of Pathology, Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden for her paper entitled "Tumour growth is more dispersed in pancreatic head cancers than in rectal cancer: implications for resection margin assessment", which appeared in Histopathology 2011; 59; 1111-1121. Her co-authors were Johannes Knapp and Ivar Prybz Gladhaug. The value of the prize is 10.000 Euros. Many congratulations to Dr Verbeke and her colleagues.
After the Dinner on the 23rd November 2012, during the BDIAP Scientific meeting on Breast Pathology, the President, Professor Michael Wells, presented the Division's Cunningham Medal for service to the British Division to Professor Claude Cuvelier, European Vice President of the IAP..
At the same event, Professor Wells also presented the President's Medal for service to education in pathology to Professor Mary Leader.
