The host organisers of Belfast Pathology 2017 have organised sessions to answer two key questions for modern pathology: what are the principles underpinning key technologies in digital pathology, and how best do we integrate digital pathology into our routine diagnostic work? To this end, Prof. Peter Hamilton and Dr Darren Treanor have assembled two workshops featuring national and international experts in this exciting field.
On Tuesday 20th June there is a symposium on Digital and Computational Pathology for Tissue Imaging and Analytics. Presentations include Deep Learning for Pathology by Prof. Andy Beck from Harvard Medical School; Computational Pathology in Breast Cancer by Prof. Paul van Diest from Utrecht and Automated Analysis of Tissue Morphology for Diagnostics by Prof. Nasir Rajpoot from the University of Warwick.
On Friday 23rd June Dr Darren Treanor has organised a symposium on Digital Pathology for Clinical Diagnostics – Drivers for Change which includes discussion of the RCPath Guidelines for Digital Pathology, and reviews of the experience of digital pathology in the USA, Sweden, the Netherlands and Belgium.
