Grants & Bursaries

The BDIAP provides a number of different grants and bursaries for medical undergraduates, trainee pathologists and consultant histopathologists to attend courses and conferences or undertake specialist study.

Grants and bursaries for BDIAP home country pathologists and medical students:

Educational fellowships – these grants, for BDIAP members (including trainees), are to fund visits to study in athology laboratories in the UK and overseas

Student electives – these grants fund UK medical students to study pathology in a laboratory during their elective period

Student intercalated degree grants – these grants are to fund medical students who wish to study for an intercalated degree in a pathology subject

Grants and bursaries for pathologists in the BDIAP Schools (Sri Lankan, Arab and East African):

BDIAP Schools Pathologists in Training Bursaries –The British Division of the International Academy of Pathology provides a small number of bursaries each year to permit trainee pathologists from the BDIAP Sri Lankan, Arab and East African Schools to obtain training in one of the countries of the British Division by attending one of the educational meetings of the British Division.

Nermin Durakovic bursary – In recognition of the tireless support that Nermin Durakovic gave to the founding of the Bosnian-British School of Pathology (BBSP), the British Division of the International Academy of Pathology (BDIAP) is delighted to offer a Nermin Durakovic bursary to young Bosnian pathologists for further educational purposes.

Travel bursaries – The British Division of the IAP is able to offer a limited number of Travel Bursaries to its non-UK Members. These are intended to support the cost of overseas travel undertaken by non-UK Members of the British Division, where the journey is one which may be expected to further the aims of the British Division
