DESCRIPTION:Pathology Grand Rounds: (CPD Accredited)Promoted on behalf of the Pathological Society \n\nJoin the virtual lecture on "Understanding organisation of the breast tumour microenvironment by high-dimensional imaging" by Dr Raza AliDr Ali read medicine at Cardiff University. He completed a PhD in the quantitative pathology and genomics of breast cancer at the University of Cambridge\, and later served as a clinical lecturer while completing specialist training in Histopathology. He was awarded a CRUK Clinician Scientist Fellowship enabling him to join the Bodenmiller Lab at University of Zurich in order to train in highly multiplexed tissue imaging. As of March 2020 he leads a systems cancer pathology group focussing on breast cancer at CRUK Cambridge Institute.\n\nAbstractThe tumour microenvironment (TME) contains diverse cell types interacting as a complex system to carry out specific functions such as the immune response. But our understanding of how these cells organise in space is rudimentary. I will describe work deploying high dimensional imaging (imaging mass cytometry) and quantitative image analysis\, to systematically map the repertoire of TME structures in breast cancer in order to understand their biological and clinical significance\, and their potential implications for immuno-oncology.\n\nSponsored by Jean Shanks Foundation and the Pathological Society
