BDIAP Bursaries to attend  IAP 2022

IAP 2022 took place as a hybrid meeting, hosted by the Australasian Division of the International Academy of Pathology. The Congress took place virtually from 11-12 October 2022 and in person from 13-15 October 2022. 

BDIAP bursaries were available to attend the virtual component of the Congress only, from 11-12 October 2022.

Bursaries were open to BDIAP Member Country Trainee Members, BDIAP Schools and Nermin Durakovic bursaries for Bosnian pathologists.

All bursary applications are formally reviewed by the BDIAP Innovation Subcommittee (formerly known as the Education and IT Subcommittee).

What does the bursary consist of?

  • Virtual meeting registration fee, 11-12 October 2022.
  • BDIAP bursary certificate upon completion of a bursary report .

Am I eligible?

Abstract submission is not a requirement of the bursary, but preference will be given to applicants who have submitted an abstract to the meeting. Abstracts should be submitted via the IAP 2022 Congress website

Applications are invited from:

BDIAP Member Country Trainee Members 

Applicants must be a BDIAP Trainee Member from the UK, Belgium, Ireland or the Netherlands. 

BDIAP Schools applicants

BDIAP Schools applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be based within one of the BDIAP Schools: Arab, Bosnian, East African or Sri Lankan Schools.  
  • Be a training pathologist or within the first two years of a substantive consultant post.
  • Applicants must be 40 years old or less than at the time of application. 

A small number of Senior bursaries (over 40 years old) are available on a case-by-case basis. Please contact Sam Kiely for more information. 

Nermin Durakovic applicants 

Applicants for the named Nermin Durakovic bursary must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a Bosnian training pathologist or within the first two years of a substantive consultant post. 
  • Applicants must be 40 years old or less than at the time of application.

How do I apply?

  1. Complete the online application form below. 
  2. Your Clinical Lead/Head of Department must complete the verification document and return this to Sam Kiely by email. Please download and submit the format that is most compatible for you/your organisation.

  3. If you have submitted an abstract to the meeting you must submit a copy of your abstract to Sam Kiely by email.

Please note:

  • Applicants must inform the Congress Organisers that they have submitted a BDIAP bursary application.  Please email program@iap2022.com. 
  • When completing the online application form applicants will be asked to write a short statement (150 words) to demonstrate how they would benefit from being awarded a BDIAP bursary. 
  • If you are a BDIAP Member, you will be asked to provide your IAP Reference Number when completing the online form. This can be found on the profile page of your Member’s Area.  
  • You will be asked to provide the contact details of your Clinical Lead/Head of Department when completing the online form. 
  • Only completed applications will be considered. Applications are considered complete once the online form has been submitted and a supporting verification document has been received. If you have submitted an abstract for the meeting, a copy of your abstract must also have been received. 
  • It is not possible to save and return to the application form. 

Applications closed on Friday 15 April 2022.

Conditions of the bursary

The following conditions apply for successful bursary recipients:

  • Bursary recipients are required to submit a short report following the Congress. We will provide bursary recipients with a guideline of what to include. The report will be made available on the BDIAP website and circulated to BDIAP members via our e-newsletter.
