The link with Bosnia arose following the Balkan wars when humanitarian support was being provided by Mike Feeney and the late Professor Bryan Warren. A proposal to provide support for the pathologists in Sarajevo and surrounding areas was made by Dr Semir Vranic and taken up by Bryan.
The school has had 13 successful meetings to date and is thriving as a result of local enthusiasm and BDIAP support. In additional to the annual meeting, support is provided to pathologists from Bosnia and surrounding countries to attend IAP congresses through the Nermin Durakovic bursaries.
The 14th Bryan Warren School of Pathology (BWSP) on soft tissue pathology scheduled for early November 2020 in Sarajevo has regrettably had to be postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have made the decision to postpone the event in Sarajevo until spring 2021.
The Association of Basic Medical Sciences of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the British Division of the International Academy of Pathology (BDIAP) will announce the updates regarding the exact time of the 14th BWSP in due course.
