In honour of the late Professor Bryan F Warren (1958-2012) the Bosnian British School of Pathology was renamed in 2012 to the Bryan Warren School of Pathology.
The link with Bosnia arose following the Balkan wars when humanitarian support was being provided by Mike Feeney and the late Professor Bryan Warren. A proposal to provide support for the pathologists in Sarajevo and surrounding areas was made by Dr Semir Vranic and taken up by Bryan.
The school has had 15 successful meetings to date and is thriving as a result of local enthusiasm and BDIAP support. In additional to the annual meeting, support is provided to pathologists from Bosnia and surrounding countries to attend IAP congresses through the Nermin Durakovic bursaries.
The 16th Bryan Warren School of Pathology (BWSP) is taking place on 4-5 November 2023 as a hybrid event. The topic is genitourinary pathology. Lectures will be delivered by Dr Lisa Browning (BDIAP Meeting's Secretary) and Dr Murali Varma.
Details of previous Schools can be found here.
