The link with Bosnia arose following the Balkan wars when humanitarian support was being provided by Mike Feeney and the late Professor Bryan Warren. A proposal to provide support for the pathologists in Sarajevo and surrounding areas was made by Dr Semir Vranic and taken up by Bryan.
The school has had 14 successful meetings to date and is thriving as a result of local enthusiasm and BDIAP support. In additional to the annual meeting, support is provided to pathologists from Bosnia and surrounding countries to attend IAP congresses through the Nermin Durakovic bursaries.
The 14th Bryan Warren School of Pathology (BWSP) on soft tissue pathology scheduled for early November 2020 in Sarajevo was regrettably postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This meeting took place as a virtual event on the 6 November 2021.
The 15th Bryan Warren School of Pathology (BWSP) on head and neck pathology is due to take place on the 5-6 November 2022.
