ICCR Datasets: Recent Updates and Invitation to Review

ICCR has invited the International Academy of Pathology (IAP) to participate in the review process for the Draft 2nd edition International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting (ICCR) Tumours of the Central Nervous System (CNS) dataset

The dataset is split into three sections:

Histological assessment of CNS specimens

It is intended that this section should be used in conjunction with the other sections. A full diagnosis of CNS tumours should ideally conform to the 2021 World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Tumours of the CNS which requires integration of elements from histological and ancillary analyses. However, some 2021 CNS WHO entities can be diagnosed solely on the basis of histological features and in this situation only this section needs to be completed.

Molecular information for CNS specimens

This section is to be used for those tumours in which molecular or immunohistochemistry information is captured for diagnostic purposes.

Final integrated report/diagnosis for CNS specimens

In many situations, 2021 CNS WHO diagnoses integrate histological and molecular information and this section is intended for the capture of that final diagnosis.

The ICCR has been formed to develop common, internationally standardised and evidence-based cancer datasets for surgical pathology specimens. Using the best international approaches, and leveraging the knowledge and experience of world-leading pathologists, the ICCR aims to ensure that all cancer reports will be of the same high quality; ensuring completeness, consistency, clarity, conciseness and above all, clinical utility. The ICCR has published 62 cancer datasets to date which are available here.

This dataset has been kindly sponsored by Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology and Stichting STOPhersentumoren.

The draft dataset is available for comment until Friday 23rd February 2024.
