Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Pathology Alliance, you are invited to attend a webinar around novel solutions to the current challenges faced by the NHS in testing at scale for Covid-19/SARS-CoV-2. This webinar is designed to enable bidirectional, solution-orientated, information sharing between the NHS diagnostics community and the National Covid-19 Testing Cell.
Background:
The Government has committed to the scale-up and delivery of testing levels to 100,000 tests a day, from across all five pillars of the national strategy, by the end of April 2020.
The Testing Methods Sourcing Platform is a partnership between the DHSC, NHS, BIA, BIVDA and RCPath. The objective of this platform is to share and build on each other's experiences and ideas for novel testing solutions/methods, with an aim to help deliver 100,000 coronavirus tests a day by the end of April 2020 and then continued support for the ongoing testing strategy in the medium to longer term.
Purpose of the webinar:
1. Update the NHS diagnostics community on the national testing strategy
2. Update the NHS diagnostics community on the Novel Solutions Challenge, including outputs from the crowdsourcing platform and top ten ideas to date
3. Develop a solution-orientated collaborative to enable the rapid-implementation of novel testing solutions at scale
There will be an opening session to provide context and progress against key milestones in the national testing strategy, followed by interactive break-out sessions focussing on individual testing-challenges.
Agenda:
Speakers will include:
Professor Jo Martin, Chair of the Pathology Alliance and President of the Royal College of Pathologists
Dr Sam Roberts, Covid-19 Director of Testing Supplies, Department of Health and Social Care
Helen Bevan, Chief Transformation Officer, NHS Horizons
Target audience:
The target audience for this event are individuals from the NHS diagnostics community with an active role in testing for Covid-19/SARS-CoV-2, namely: lab managers, clinical scientists, biomedical scientists, pathologists, virologists/immunologists, and academic scientists.
