Prior to applying

Ensure your membership record is up to date. 

You will need to make sure that your membership record is up to date before starting an application. Please ensure the following details are correct:

  • Your address
  • Phone number
  • Qualifications
  • National training number (if applicable)
  • Date of training completion 

You can check these details via the Member Area. Please contact the administrative team if you need to update your email address.

Abstract submission is a requirement of the bursary. Ensure you have submitted an abstract via the Congress website prior to applying for a bursary. 

How do I apply?

  1. Complete the online application form below. 
  2. Your Clinical Lead/Head of Department/Laboratory Manager/Line Manager (“your referee”) must complete and submit a verification document. When completing the application form you will be asked to provide the name and email address of your referee. An email will be sent to the email address provided with instructions on how to submit the document.

Please note:

  • When completing the online application form applicants will be asked to write a short statement (150 words) to demonstrate how they would benefit from being awarded a BDIAP bursary to attend the IAP 2026 Congress. 
  • You will be asked to provide your submitted abstract number(s) and the title of the abstract(s) when completing the online form.
  • You will be asked to upload a copy of your submitted abstract(s). 
  • Your referee will only receive email notification to submit the verification document once a bursary application has been submitted.
  • The verification document must be submitted directly by your referee. 
  • Only completed applications will be considered. Applications are considered complete once the online form has been submitted and a supporting verification document and a copy of your submitted abstract(s) has been received.
  • Applicants should not register for the meeting until they hear the outcome of their bursary application. If you are applying for a bursary and have already registered, please inform the administrative team.

Conditions of the Bursary

The following conditions apply for successful bursary recipients:

  1. Bursary recipients are required to submit a short report within 1 month of the meeting. Report guidelines will be provided. The report will be made available on the BDIAP website and circulated to BDIAP members via our e-newsletter. 
  2. A member is not entitled to more than one BDIAP bursary in any two-year period.
